Bomb scare sparks tension at LRT-Buendia station — report
Tension briefly gripped the Light Rail Transit station in Pasay City on Tuesday morning after passengers expressed alarm over a supposed explosive.
Edgardo Sarmiento, commander of the traffic enforcers near the LRT station at the corner of Taft and Sen. Gil Puyat (formerly Buendia) Avenues, said an unidentified man left a suspicious-looking bag at the station.
"Pero wala namang nakitang explosive sa loob (But no explosive was found inside the bag)," Sarmiento told radio dzBB.
Sarmiento said they contacted the Pasay City police after passengers informed them that a man left the bag.
Operatives from the Explosives and Ordinance Division went to clear and secure the area immediately. The operatives set off the bag to assure that any possible explosive would be detonated.
However, the bag contained no explosives, only pieces of paper. Sarmiento said. — Sophia Dedace/RSJ, GMANews.TV
