MANILA, Philippines – Kris Aquino on Sunday denied that she composed a text message thanking the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) for its supposed endorsement for the presidential bid of her brother, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
On her show, “The Buzz,” Sunday, Kris revealed that a close friend of hers alarmed her about the circulating text message.
According to her, the text message read: “Hi everyone, please help me pass on the good news that Iglesia is supporting Noy. Was afraid he would support Erap ‘coz of their malim na pinagsamahan. Pero I guess they were fair-weather after all and going for the sure winner. Haha. Too bad for Erap, good for us. This secures victory – Kris.”
The television host-actress said she has “too much respect” for the religious sect to even consider making such an announcement before the INC could make up its mind regarding its presidential bet in the coming elections.
She also said her family fully supports former president Joseph Estrada who is Noynoy's rival in the presidential race.
“Pangalawa po, mahal na mahal ng pamilya Aquino si president Erap (Joseph Estrada) for the simple reason na minahal at binigyan po niya ng respeto ang nanay po namin,” Kris, the youngest daughter of the late former president Corazon Aquino, said.
She suspects that the text message is part of the black propaganda against Noynoy.
The issue cropped up after Noynoy admitted that he and his sisters had met with INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo to get INC’s support in the May 10 elections.
